Mr./ Miss. Negativity

You know what I can't stand.... Negativity. It use to be a regular visitor and I have been able to keep Mr. Negativity at bay the majority of the time.

The last few days, this Negativity has slowly, but oh so surely, been creeping up on me and weaving in and out of my brain matter. I know he is there because I would be thinking or even talking about something good or positive or just something boring, when all of the sudden, WHAM! I say something totally negative and it somehow ties into what I was saying before. EWWWW I hate it when that happens!! Oh crap! There it is again.... I mean I strongly dislike it when that happens.

I decided I have had enough these last few days and I want to get rid of Mr. Negativity. I concentrate and pray and really try hard to be positive and stay on track with my happy thoughts.

As I go throughout my day doing this, I am looking at my calendar and I notice a big, red circle around a very fast-approaching date. I feeling of complete understanding overwhelms me. It Looks like Mr. Negativity has been Miss Negativity this whole time. This is great news because now, it's a whole new ballgame. I take the calendar off the wall, walk over to The Mister, and show him the upcoming, red-circled date. His face is one of complete understanding and love. Then I toss the calendar over my shoulder and start walking up the stairs. I hear the calendar hit the floor as I shut the door to my bedroom.

Kylie~isms

Last night while on the phone with my cousin Shelly.

Me: "What are ya doin?"

Shell: "Just ironing Jeremy's clothes so that he'll go to the gym with me in the morning."

Me: "Wait a minute......you guys iron your GYM clothes?!"

Shelly, laughing.........
Apparently that was not the case. She was ironing Jeremy's work clothes so he could get ready quickly when he got home from the gym. Is this obvious to anyone else?? LOL

A few weeks ago at my sons school, I was talking to my friend, Jessica, who is also the mother of a girl in my sons class.

Jess: "We could get together next week sometime to go over the pages for the yearbook, you can come to my house, or if it is easier, I'll just bring my computer to yours."

Me: "What?! That is crazy! You don't want to do that!"

Jess: "Why not?"

Me: "Are you kidding? Loading your monitor, keyboard, and hard-drive into your car and bringing it all the way to my house!? That is crazy." (I was laughing at her for this ridiculous suggestion)

Jess: (laughing and patting my head) "I have a laptop honey, this is why we love you."

WOW, I felt dumb.

Dr. Seuss is a genius.....

I’m sorry to say so but, sadly, it’s true
that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you.

You can get all hung up in a prickle-ly perch.
And your gang will fly on. You’ll be left in a Lurch.

You’ll come down from the Lurch with an unpleasant bump.
And the chances are, then, that you’ll be in a Slump.

And when you’re in a Slump, you’re not in for much fun.
Un-slumping yourself is not easily done.

You will come to a place where the streets are not marked.
Some windows are lighted. But mostly they’re darked.
A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin!
Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in?
How much can you lose?
How much can you win?

And if you go in, should you turn left or right…
or right-and-three-quarters?
Or, maybe, not quite?
Or go around back and sneak in from behind?
Simple it’s not, I’m afraid you will find,
for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.

. . . .

On you will go though the weather be foul.
On you will go though your enemies prowl.
On you will go though the Hakken-Kraks howl.
Onward up many a frightening creek,
though your arms may get sore and your sneakers may leak.
On and on you will hike.
And I know you’ll hike far and face up to your problems whatever they are.
. . . .

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)

Kylie-ism

Yesterday was a rough day for me, I had some issues with customer service people and it just started the day off wrong. Anywho, I was on the phone speaking with The Mister, and I remembered that I needed to text someone about something important, here is how the conversation went;

Me: "I am so annoyed, people in customer service here suck! And, I can't find my cell, I bet the kids took it to play with it!" (frantically searching for my phone)

The Mister: **LONG PAUSE** "Ummm.......Kylie?"

Me: "Oh my gosh, I am getting off the phone now because I am so embarrassed!"

The Mister: (Laughing hysterically as I am hanging up the phone)"Bye babe"

Seriously, tell me you have done this as well? Probably not! LOL

I am now the big 2 7!!!!

Yesterday was my 27th birthday and I cannot believe I am this age!! My birthday turned out to be a very nice and mostly quiet one. The kids and Tyson woke me up with the Happy Birthday song, (which Ashtyn sings soooooo cute) and gave me a dozen pink roses (I hate red roses) and Ashtyn totally ratted Tyson out by saying, "Mommy, daddy got you a cake, I want some yummy cake!" So cute. We then sent Kai off to school and Ashtyn to a sitter and took off to the Santa Fe Station Casino to see "Couples Retreat" it was a very cute movie that I don't think can be appreciated unless you are married. We then played video poker with $5.00 beacuse I was convinced that on your birthday you are automatically lucky! I was wrong! :) It was fun though and Tyson was making fun of me for how horrible I was.

Then we drove over to the International Market and got my favorite stuff, Yaki Soba, which is a Japanese noodle dish that my kids and hubby love as well, and these small yogurt drinks that are frozen and soooooo good!!

Then we were off to pick up Ashtyn and Kai and went home to all bake a cake together. I suggest doing this, the kids get to be involved and they love it! After that we all sat down and watched a couple Halloween movies together. It was a great day. Thank you to all of you who called, sent texts, and, of course, left me fun facebook comments and messages!!

Weight Loss Goal!

Our family has just recently had our pictures taken by my friend, Kara Hancock with Flash Photography. She did an amazing job and was EXTREMELY patient with the kiddos! I am comparing my weight to last years pics and I am horrified that I have gained so much!!
My goal is to lose 25 pounds within the next 6 months. We just recently bought a treadmill because here in Las Vegas, the blistering heat prohibits us to go outside and exercise as much as we'd like to. I also have a bad habit of eating in the evening. I can go all day without eating hardly at all, then at night, I am always up until at least 2 AM and throughout that time, I make up for the lack of eating in the daytime.
Also, my brother-in-law lost 50 pounds over the course of 6 months or so, doing it the healthy way and won $1,000 at work for their weight loss competition! I was so impressed when I saw him, he looks like a completely different person! It gave me some motivation to really work hard and stick with it to attain my weight loss goal. I would really love to start up some sort of contest with our blogs if anyone is interested. Let me know!!
Also, if any of you need pictures taken, I suggest you use my friend, Kara, she is so good and just has the natural ability to capture the best pics!!

Top 5 celebrity crushes....

I read a friend's blog and they had posted their top 5 celebrity crushes.... I thought it was a cute idea, so I am following suit. Of course it would not be fair if I didn't post Tyson's as well. So here are mine....

1. Gerard Butler
Need I say more???
2. Ryan Reynolds
he has such a great personality! (because I know him personally, we talk on the phone often...:)
3. Brad Pitt
I had this poster on my ceiling above my bed when I was 13!! (creepy??)
4. Collin Farrell
This man is just gorgeous.......gorgeous.......
5. Johnny Depp
I really don't need to say anything else about this guy...he gets hotter with age!

Now, for Tyson's crushes....

1. Salma Hayek
I have to agree with this one, she is so gorgeous! (except for when she was breastfeeding some random orphan in another country...eww)
2. Shakira
Too bad this picture doesn't show her girating, I think that's why Tyson likes her!
3. Jessica Biel
She's ok.....
4. Megan Fox
I have to admit, I have a bit of a girl crush on her too...she is too damn pretty!!
5. Kate Beckinsdale
For some reason, I think she is kind of snotty.....

Let me know if any of you agree with my top 5 or Tysons:)

Kylie-ism.... Washington style

Setting: My Aunt, uncle, cousins, and grandparents are all at a Chinese food restaurant

Everyone is talking about how wonderful my grandpa's recipe for Salmon dip is......

Me: (looking extremely confused)

Uncle Mark: "Kylie, why do you look so confused?"

Me: "Well I was just wondering HOW do you put the Salmon flavor in the dip?"

Uncle mark: (looking extremely AMUSED) "How do you think they put in the Salmon flavor?"

Me: "I dunno, maybe there is some kind of Salmon extract, you know, like Vanilla extract."

Everyone bursts out laughing, even my very collected grandmother..........
Apparently they use actual smoked Salmon in the dip....who'd a thunk?

Confessions.............

I opened my pantry today to a small variety of things to eat. I desperately need to go shopping. Anyway, There sat a bag of Frosted Mini Wheats that has been there forever! I don't like them very much because there is not enough "frost" in my opinion. So, I had a clever plan, I ate half the bag of mini wheats by biting off the part with the frosting and throwing the rest away.... I am still convinced that it was healthy... I realized how very pathetic this was, but I kept going, thinking it would make a great "confessions" post.....

What does a Teapot smell like??

Here is a confession. I decided to make some English Tea ( I LOVE IT) this morning and I filled up my electric tea kettle, which only takes 90 seconds to boil the water. After it started to boil, the steam blows out of the spout. Something smelled funny. I was CLEARLY not thinking straight and I automatically bent down and took a big whiff right in the line of fire! The steam went straight up my nose and burned it so bad, the hairs inside my nose are much, much smaller now! It hurt so bad. I have never had a burn on the inside of my nostril before and it isn't fun!! But I know its funny because, seriously, who does this???

MOVING!!!! AGAIN!!!

We have lived in our house now for 9 months and we just got the news that we need to move! I despise moving, I am sure I am not the only one. Our owner called to let us know she is letting the house we live in go into foreclosure, which a lot of people are doing right now because the housing market is so low, their homes are worth far less than what they paid for them. The rent is going up everywhere as well since everyone is foreclosing. I never thought I would see the day that it is far cheaper to buy a home than to rent one!? I guess that is just our economy nowadays. I am very sad about this news because we have the most fabulous neighbors you could ask for. We really want to live nearby here and we are looking now. I am so annoyed at the thought of moving again and maybe next time I just wont unpack at all since things are so unpredictable. Thanks for letting me vent...again.:)

Confessions of a twenty-something Drama Queen!

Tyson snores...... he claims I snore as well. Here is the conversation that goes on almost nightly;

Me:....snoring loudly...(Tysons claims)
Tyson: "Kylie, you need to turn over, you are snoring again."
Me: "No babe, you just heard yourself snoring and it woke you up, you need to turn over."

As if he believes me.

Life is Good......

I think I may be onto something..... Life is just too short, you know. I think many people, as well as myself, take life for granted. There is so much pettiness in this world and Lord knows, petty things get the best of me too much of the time. I never thought this was something I could change, I just thought it was a characteristic that I would always have. If I had a penny for every time I heard someone say to me, "Why do you even let that bother you?" and "Why do you even care what that person says?" and every time I am thinking, "Easy for you to say" and "Gee, thanks for the tip Einstein" I'd hire someone else to type this very blog I am writing while I speak.
Lately I have been feeling great! I mean, I have gotten to this point where instead of having something eating at me the majority of the time, I feel at ease and I am not over analyzing things as much. I am sure this "at ease" feeling I am having is probably still chaos for the normal person.:)
I have let go of a lot of things lately and decided that I am who I am, and for the first time in a long time, I really like who I am and the things I am accomplishing in life.
There is this book called "The Four Agreements" and I really like it, I am not above reading the occasional self-help book and there is a chapter in this book that is so right!!
The title of this specific chapter is "Don't take anything personally."
The description is something I really agree with and I learned a lot from (and am still learning from), it reads:
"Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering."

Obviously, I doubt I will ever be "immune" and this is something I think of a lot. I have wasted so much time being upset over the dumbest things and anytime I feel like blaming my attitude on something, I think of this statement. It is a hard lesson to learn though.
Anyway, life is good. I think it is a good thing to reflect and express the positive changes you see in yourself, no matter how vain it may seem.:)

Addicted to T.V.

I am the first person to admit that I am addicted to T.V. I have certain shows that I just cannot live without. I have always liked getting totally lost in a movie or television show. I also get so sad when a movie star or a T.V. star dies. I feel like a little piece of me is gone. I guess it makes sense somewhat because even thought he person is acting, they are still entertaining me, and therefore, a small part of my life. But I do know it is kinda sad.:) Thursday night television is mine and Tyson's favorite. We love to watch Survivor, The Office, and Grey's Anatomy (if he says he doesn't like it, he is lying.:)
Usually, I DVR my shows and watch them at night since I am an insomniac and there is no way anyone can watch a show all the way through with a 6 and a 4 year old.
I realize that I could probably get a lot of different things done that are much more productive then seeing who is getting voted off next, I will have to take it one step at a time.....SLOWLY taper off the Tube. But who are we kidding, It'll probably take some time.:)
I am wondering if I am the only one who stays up at night watching my DVR and feeling satisfaction in the fact that I got my alone time, but really I am not alone, I am with my buddies, my pals, my late night posse.

Big Love= Big Problems

Up until this last Sunday, I would watch Big Love because I though it was an interesting show and I didn't feel like it disrespected the LDS religion like people thought it did, up until this last episode. I posted on my Face book that I was watching Big Love as my status and a family member got extremely upset with me and posted in my wall that I was disrespecting her and all she stood for. I was totally shocked, I had not meant anything by the post, just what I was doing at the moment. I had not even watched the full episode yet with the endowment ceremony. I forgotten I had the status there still after I watched it and when I got this comment, I immediately took it down. I really did not mean to offend anyone by it. I will say that I was deeply offended by the episode because although I am not active, I am a member of the LDS church and throughout my experience I know that this ceremony is sacred to everyone in the church, you do not ask about it because it is something temple-worthy mormons get to experience. I did cancel my HBO subscription after the show aired. I apologize if the face book offended anyone, it was not my intention at all. I do think the makers of the show need to apologize and I think the ex mormon that gave them all the information should feel very ashamed of themselves! Please feel free to comment about your feelings regarding this subject.

Habanero's Anyone??

This weekend, I was invited to a big Fiesta themed dinner with my good friends Molly and Jason. I LOVE Mexican food, so I was more than willing to go. When we arrived everything was decorated so great and the food smelled sooo delicious. Everyone sat at a table and after we all ate fajitas, there were a few games to be played.
The first one was a pepper eating contest. I am really not a big fan of peppers, but the prize was an awesome golf package. I do not golf, but a friend of mine that was there does. So we decided that we'd both do the contest, that way he had a better chance of winning. I was the only woman that volunteered, there were 5 other men that were obviously golf fans.
They brought out this table with 5 different kinds of peppers and how many tickets they were worth. There was Jalepenos, yellow peppers, red peppers and these small ones called Habanero peppers. THOSE were worth 10 tickets while the rest were only worth 1, 2 or 3. Melissa, the host (Wonderful job Melissa BTW) said ladies first. So, I thought I would be super cool and go right for the Habanero. I chewed it up like a pro and swallowed it. Now, the rule is, if you drink the milk, you can't compete anymore. So, I guess the men felt like they had to eat one too since the girl ate one.
At this point, tears are streaming down my face, my mouth feels like it is swollen. The only thing I could think of was to start eating the yellow peppers just to have something take the heat away. I ate 6 yellow peppers and I could NOT take it anymore. I begged for the milk. I thought whomever ended up with the most tickets would win. I was wrong. The tickets went into a bowl and Melissa drew a ticket, whoever had the matching number won. I did not win, but I did not care because I was in sooo much pain. My stomach was burning I had drank almost a gallon of milk by now and somebody offered me their half eaten ice cream, which I couldn't have cared less that it was eaten from, I grabbed it and started easting it like crazy. It was so funny and I know they took pictures. I haven't gotten the pics yet, but I will post them once I do. I just had to share this story, it was a good lesson for me. :)

Quirks

The Rules:-Link the Person who Tagged you-Mention rules on your blog-Tell about 6 quirks of yours-Tag 6 fellow bloggers to do the same-Leave a comment to let them know.

Quirk #1... Anytime the television is on or the radio I have to set the volume on an EVEN number. But for some reason 15 and 21 are okay, but no other odd numbers!! Tyson gets a kick out of it and changes the volume to an odd number when I'm not looking and I get all irritated about it. He gets a good laugh every time.

Quirk #2... Anytime I say anything that is going good, I absolutley have to say, "Knock on Wood." and find the closest thing that contains wood as soon as possible to knock on it!!

Quirk #3... When Tyson is gone late at night and I hear a noise or get spooked for any reason, I sing "I am a child of God" really loud so the "bad guy" can hear me. Afterwards, I turn on the Golden Girls or Mad About You and watch it, only then do I feel better and am able to sleep.

Quirk #4... I like to read magazines backwards. I start at the last page and work my way to the front. I think its better that way.

Quirk #5... I have to lock the doors at night in order. Garage door, sliding glass door, then the front door. If I did it out of order for some reason, I go back and do it all over again. Then I check the doors 5 minutes later and peek out the windows to make sure we're safe. (maybe a little OCD)

Quirk #6... Every time I lose an eyelash, I put it on the tip of my finger, close my eyes, make a wish and blow it off my finger. I feel like my wish will for sure come true!!

Kylie-ism

Okay, so Tyson told me I had to post this. A few weeks ago I called Tyson at work and I was frantic. Here's how the conversation went.....

Me: "Tyson, are you watching the news?"
Ty: "No, why?"
Me: "because Russia invaded Georgia!! I told you something like the movie Red Dawn could happen here!"
Ty: (laughing hysterically) "Wrong Georgia Kylie."

Apparently I was confused and thought Russia had invaded the state of Georgia. Yeah, not my brightest moment.

I'm sure somewhere in Hollywood, Jessica Simpson was thinking that SAME THING!! lol
