MOVING!!!! AGAIN!!!

We have lived in our house now for 9 months and we just got the news that we need to move! I despise moving, I am sure I am not the only one. Our owner called to let us know she is letting the house we live in go into foreclosure, which a lot of people are doing right now because the housing market is so low, their homes are worth far less than what they paid for them. The rent is going up everywhere as well since everyone is foreclosing. I never thought I would see the day that it is far cheaper to buy a home than to rent one!? I guess that is just our economy nowadays. I am very sad about this news because we have the most fabulous neighbors you could ask for. We really want to live nearby here and we are looking now. I am so annoyed at the thought of moving again and maybe next time I just wont unpack at all since things are so unpredictable. Thanks for letting me vent...again.:)

Summer Lovin'

Whomever said Chicago is "The Windy City" has never lived in Las Vegas!!
I swear when it is windy here, our garbage cans end up across the street in our neighbors yard. It's a good thing they are our good friends....Sorry Molly & Jason!:) Tyson and I have been spending a lot of time with our kids lately doing stuff we love. You know, like playing catch across our cul-de-sac with the kids, its hilarious when Kai is trying to catch the ball, I love that kid, but let's just say he isn't the most coordinated.:)

The other day that Oxi-Clean commercial came on with that really annoying guy, Billy Mays. Here is what Kai said;
(The commercial is on)
Kai: "Mom, look who's on T.V.!"
Me: "Who? Spider-man, Star Wars?"
Kai: "No mom, it's that really cool guy who sells us lots of awesome stuff!"

I thought it was so funny!

Ashtyn is talking better but there are some words she says that only Tyson and I understand! The other day Kai's grandma called to talk to Kai and Ashtyn got on the phone and said, "Hi Grandma!" and talked to her for 10 minutes! It was so cute, she thinks Kai's grandma is hers as well and I am not going to tell her different because she loves talking to her and she actually talks to her much more often than my dad or Tyson's parents, so, we don't mind that she thinks that! Its so cute! :)

Summer is starting here in Vegas and it isn't going to be fun, I hate the horrible heat in the summers here and I am sure there will be more posts to come about that, I apologize in advance, I hope everyone is doing great and I am sure you all have your summer vacations lined up, you will have to tell me how they go!

Good Karma.............

I am a BIG believer in KARMA and I have got to share this amazing story. My visiting teachers were over a few months ago and we were sitting on my (ugly) couch talking, I half-jokingly said, "If you guys know of anyone getting rid of their couch, let us know." Well, I received a phone call yesterday from my neighbor who told me that this woman had told her if she knew of anyone that wanted new couches, to call her. Well, she immediately thought of me and I called her right away. I didn't even care what they looked like because we need new couches so bad. The one we have is SO uncomfortable and Ashtyn felt one day that it needed to be colored blue, so she took it upon herself to color it with a blue marker. Also, our couch only seats three (uncomfortably) Basically, we have been long overdue for new couches.

She just now sent me the pics and they are so nice!! I really could not believe that she was just giving them to me! The woman said I could have them and I will be picking them up next week. I told her how grateful I was to the point where I am sure it was annoying and I told her that I hoped I could return the favor to her one day. Then she said the nicest thing, she said, "Kylie, all I ask is that you do the same one day for someone in need." I thought that was the coolest thing. This world is a better place with her in it. She could have sold these for a few hundred dollars and instead, the thought did not even cross her mind, she just sent the word out that she was giving them away. What a sweetheart! Included in the set it a couch, love seat and chair with an ottoman. Thanks again Bobbi Jo, from the bottom of my heart!!

LuLu

If I am not braggin' about my own kids, I have to brag about my niece, whom I HAVE NOT met yet..... She is so adorable!

Confessions of a twenty-something Drama Queen!

Tyson snores...... he claims I snore as well. Here is the conversation that goes on almost nightly;

Me:....snoring loudly...(Tysons claims)
Tyson: "Kylie, you need to turn over, you are snoring again."
Me: "No babe, you just heard yourself snoring and it woke you up, you need to turn over."

As if he believes me.

Vegas Sunshine!

Today, it is beautiful outside.... referring to the last post, it is a reflection on how I feel inside, sunny. We decided it would be a good day to take the kids out for a game of frisbee. I absolutely suck at frisbee, but we found out Kai is pretty good at it. We live in a cul-de-sac, so we like to meet up with our neighbors and their son and let the kids play without worrying about a random car speeding down the street. Here are some pics of the kids playing, it was so warm outside, Kai got a sunburn on his face. 85 degrees!!!

Life is Good......

I think I may be onto something..... Life is just too short, you know. I think many people, as well as myself, take life for granted. There is so much pettiness in this world and Lord knows, petty things get the best of me too much of the time. I never thought this was something I could change, I just thought it was a characteristic that I would always have. If I had a penny for every time I heard someone say to me, "Why do you even let that bother you?" and "Why do you even care what that person says?" and every time I am thinking, "Easy for you to say" and "Gee, thanks for the tip Einstein" I'd hire someone else to type this very blog I am writing while I speak.
Lately I have been feeling great! I mean, I have gotten to this point where instead of having something eating at me the majority of the time, I feel at ease and I am not over analyzing things as much. I am sure this "at ease" feeling I am having is probably still chaos for the normal person.:)
I have let go of a lot of things lately and decided that I am who I am, and for the first time in a long time, I really like who I am and the things I am accomplishing in life.
There is this book called "The Four Agreements" and I really like it, I am not above reading the occasional self-help book and there is a chapter in this book that is so right!!
The title of this specific chapter is "Don't take anything personally."
The description is something I really agree with and I learned a lot from (and am still learning from), it reads:
"Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering."

Obviously, I doubt I will ever be "immune" and this is something I think of a lot. I have wasted so much time being upset over the dumbest things and anytime I feel like blaming my attitude on something, I think of this statement. It is a hard lesson to learn though.
Anyway, life is good. I think it is a good thing to reflect and express the positive changes you see in yourself, no matter how vain it may seem.:)

Addicted to T.V.

I am the first person to admit that I am addicted to T.V. I have certain shows that I just cannot live without. I have always liked getting totally lost in a movie or television show. I also get so sad when a movie star or a T.V. star dies. I feel like a little piece of me is gone. I guess it makes sense somewhat because even thought he person is acting, they are still entertaining me, and therefore, a small part of my life. But I do know it is kinda sad.:) Thursday night television is mine and Tyson's favorite. We love to watch Survivor, The Office, and Grey's Anatomy (if he says he doesn't like it, he is lying.:)
Usually, I DVR my shows and watch them at night since I am an insomniac and there is no way anyone can watch a show all the way through with a 6 and a 4 year old.
I realize that I could probably get a lot of different things done that are much more productive then seeing who is getting voted off next, I will have to take it one step at a time.....SLOWLY taper off the Tube. But who are we kidding, It'll probably take some time.:)
I am wondering if I am the only one who stays up at night watching my DVR and feeling satisfaction in the fact that I got my alone time, but really I am not alone, I am with my buddies, my pals, my late night posse.

Welcome home Kai!

Kai came home yesterday....after 8 long days, I missed that little guy, Tyson and ASHTYN especially missed him, she wanted to call him every night before bed, it was cute. Tyson picked up Kai from the airport after work and Kai came running in the house to give me a big hug and have the following conversation;

Kai: "Mom, look at my muscles they are huge!" (as he is flexing his biceps)
Me: "Wow, you are right, you must have been doing something different."
Kai: "I have, I have been eating really good, mostly fruits and vegetables."
Me: "What kinds of fruits and vegetables?"
Kai: "Oh you know, mostly...PIE."

Riiiight, I guess he learned from me what fruits and vegetables are. Pie, I wish it was good for me! We missed our Kai Boy.

Canadian Honor Roll......................

Catchy title right?? We had the missionaries over again tonight and I was telling them about my grades, which I am so proud of and I am sorry for boasting but I was so surprised to get an A- and an A! I know my academic career is far from over, but it sets a good tone and gives me more motivation to do well in the upcoming courses.
Anyway, one of the guys is from Canada and he said with my percentages, which were 97% and 91%, I would be on the honor roll in Canada. I know we don't live in Canada, but it made me feel good.:) Anything above an 80% there is an A. Isn't that crazy?? Anyway, it was a good self-esteem booster and I was sooo surprised to get such good grades. Now that I know I am capable of great grades, I want to keep doing well and not slack off. This is something I have always wanted to do and I need to remember that it is a blessing to have this opportunity again.
Kai is with his dad until Sunday in Salt Lake City and I miss him a lot. Ashtyn especially does and she gets bored fast, so I have set up play dates all week so that she has partners in crime. She said the cutest thing when she went to bed tonight and said goodbye to the missionaries, she said, "Goodnight, see you later, go ride your bikes and go to bed." It was so cute. She is such a firecracker.
Also, some other good news and probably redundant for anyone reading this, my best friend is coming to visit on Wednesday until Saturday, I am sooo excited. I have not seen her for 9 long months and I can't wait. I have not made the greatest friends in my life, she is the most amazing, loyal and dependable friend I have ever had. I don't think I stop and really think about how many wonderful people I have in my life, until recently. Christi is one of those people that you feel grateful just to be in their company.
So, there is my post. I write these things mostly for myself, kind of an outlet. I hope you all don't mind. (all two of you) :)

When it rains, it pours...................

Have you ever noticed that when things go wrong, it usually is followed by MORE things that go wrong?? It seems like its been monsoon season over here. Setting it off was my not-so-private family drama, isn't that fun! After I decided not to let it affect me whatsoever, I had some other stuff happen. Maybe one day I will have the guts to be more candid on here. A GREAT thing happened though and a family member received some much needed help and I could not be happier. It literally feels like a huge weight has been lifted off of me.

I have to say that I feel like part of the reason that things have been working themselves out, and I have just not let certain things get to me anymore, is because I have been investigating the church.

I use to go to church every week when I was younger, and at about age 13ish, I stopped going all together and haven't been since (aside from the occasional baby blessing) Ironically, Tyson and I were married in a mormon church. Anyway, I have always had major pressure from certain people to go to church. I am the type of person that does not like to do things on others' terms. I decided myself to start going and end this internal battle I have been having about the church for some years now.

I have been taking the missionary discussions also, just to ask some questions and refresh on what the church is all about. I was surprised that there were things I always questioned that were explained to me and made perfect sense. I have a long way to go, but I think I am finding my way. Yesterday was the third lesson and the missionaries came to my house and Tyson participated too, it was great.

Kai and Ashtyn decided that they LOVE church. The first day in primary, Kai sat so tall and proud and you could hear him trying to sing along (since he didn't know the words yet) it was so sweet. Ashtyn was a little shy in primary, but her favorite person was there to comfort her, Molly, our neighbor and good friend.

So, all in all, I am a work in progress and I feel good about the things I am doing. I am taking baby steps and they seem to be making my life a little bit easier, one step at a time. :)
