I am now the big 2 7!!!!

Yesterday was my 27th birthday and I cannot believe I am this age!! My birthday turned out to be a very nice and mostly quiet one. The kids and Tyson woke me up with the Happy Birthday song, (which Ashtyn sings soooooo cute) and gave me a dozen pink roses (I hate red roses) and Ashtyn totally ratted Tyson out by saying, "Mommy, daddy got you a cake, I want some yummy cake!" So cute. We then sent Kai off to school and Ashtyn to a sitter and took off to the Santa Fe Station Casino to see "Couples Retreat" it was a very cute movie that I don't think can be appreciated unless you are married. We then played video poker with $5.00 beacuse I was convinced that on your birthday you are automatically lucky! I was wrong! :) It was fun though and Tyson was making fun of me for how horrible I was.

Then we drove over to the International Market and got my favorite stuff, Yaki Soba, which is a Japanese noodle dish that my kids and hubby love as well, and these small yogurt drinks that are frozen and soooooo good!!

Then we were off to pick up Ashtyn and Kai and went home to all bake a cake together. I suggest doing this, the kids get to be involved and they love it! After that we all sat down and watched a couple Halloween movies together. It was a great day. Thank you to all of you who called, sent texts, and, of course, left me fun facebook comments and messages!!

Curried Butternut squash soup

I saw this recipe here and it lookes so amazingly good, I HAD to try it myself. The fact that it is a crock-pot recipe didn't hurt either! I have to tell you, out here in the desert where there is NO fall season... I have to improvise and create a fall-like atmosphere as best as I can. This soup is soooo delicious and creamy and it literally tastes like fall. The recipe was written out so well, you just can't mess up and if I can do it, any one else can certainly do it. I suggest all of you to try this soup, it is so, so delicious!!

Date Night

Lately, The Mister (which I lovingly call Tyson) and I have been trying to squeeze in a date night at least once a month. Well, last night, The Mister and I went on a very fun and the most perfect date for us, a UTAH FOOTBALL GAME!!! I can't even tell you how fun, relaxing and perfect it was! Well, I guess I will try. Here is how it all started...

Kai & Adrian's first day of 1st grade!!

Kai has been friends with this little boy named Adrian. They were friends throughout Kindergarten and were in the same class. At the end of the year, I sent Kai to school with a note to give Adrian's mom. (I didn't know her at all and had never met her) Christina called me and we got the kids together after Kai's summer vacation with his dad. Since then, Kai and Adrian are BEST BUDS, I mean, these two are like Siamese twins, they can't (or refuse to) do anything without each other. We put them in soccer together and of course, they are on the same team. After some get-togethers, Adrian's mom, Christina (Ash calls her ChristiBLUMA!!) and I started to become better friends. She also has a daughter named Aubree that is only 1 year younger than Ashtyn.

Ashtyn & Aubree playing princess

After talking one day, we decided that since neither one of us really know a lot of people that baby-sit here and that we would start trading off date nights. It was a GREAT idea! I strongly suggest this! It is VITAL in a marriage to have alone time with your spouse since every day being married with children gets mundane and frustrating. Getting out together has been such a great vacation from the kids!!
Friday night, we took their kids, Aubree and Adrian while they went out and had a great date night together and the kids were able to play and slept over at our house. Saturday, it was our turn and we got the kids ready and brought them to Christina and Michael's house around 5 and we were off to the game!! We had an AMAZING time together laughing and yelling out for our UTES! It was so nice to just be buddies and have fun together without worrying about getting kids in baths and disciplining and bedtime drama. We had great seats on the 5th row! It was a perfect evening and then came home to a very quiet, relaxing home with no kids. AWWWW.... (They sleep over usually on date night) The BEST part is that I was able to sleep in until 10:30 AM and wake up to a completely quiet house. I wished the Mister could have been there as well, but he had to go to work at 5 AM :(

Here are some pics from the seats and also some cute pics of the kids

Loving the seats!!

Ashtyn is so proud of her little pumpkin!

Taken for granted.....

As you can see from the post below... I am missing, I mean REALLY missing the Utah mountains. We have been living in Las Vegas for over a year now, and I didn't realize how much I miss the scenery of beautiful Utah, until I visited for a week!! We rarely get the chance to visit for that long and it was so gorgeous and the weather was perfect and we got to spend a lot of time with our family and friends.

My camera cord is not working correctly, so I am only going to be able to post pics I took from my phone:(

The kids had a blast playing with their cousins, Aiden, Jackson, Vala and Logan. They do not get to see each other enough at all. We also spent time with Oma and Papa and Grandma Grape while the boys were out hunting. It was a great time. Not to mention all of my awesome friends I was able to see and the kids were able to meet as well.

Jamey's son, Mason. He is a year older than Kai and they were instant BFF's! So cute!

Although, I am very grateful for my husband's job and being able to see him everyday (versus living in St George with him commuting every week) there is no scenery here and I miss Utah terribly. So, all you Utahns out there, be grateful for the beautiful state you live in and don't take it for granted!!
