My daughter, the DIVA!!

Ashtyn is SO into this Kindergarten thing. Last night, I put braids in her hair so that her hair would be nice and kinky today. Here is the result..

We picked her outfit and since her nails didn't match, she begged me to re-paint them AND her toenails a light pink color with "spronkles".

I watched her look at herself in the mirror and smile and talk to herself. She is just so cute, so I was able to get one candid photo, the rest she quickly posed for.

She was very happy with herself for school today and was very excited. I love that she is enjoying school so much and I also love my 3 hour break every day! :)

Ashtyn-ism

Tyson and Kai were playing and Ashtyn wanted Tyson to give her a piggyback ride. Here is how the conversation went:

Ashtyn: "My turn, my turn Daddy, give me a piggyback ride!"

Tyson: "What's the magic word?"

Ashtyn shuts her eyes really tight and says, "I WISH, I WISH WITH ALL MY HEART, TO GO TO DRAGONLAND!"

Ashtyn's first day of school...:)

Today was the first day of school for Kai and Ashtyn. However, it was Ashtyn's first day of school, ever. Ashtyn has been so excited to start school and has been talking about Kindergarten all summer long. Kai was excited too, but he didn't light a candle to Ashtyn's excitement.
Since Tyson and I are still a one-car family, the kids are taking the bus to and from school this year. Kai did this last year and the year before as well and for the most part, it went alright. Since Ashtyn is only in half/day Kindergarten, she and Kai take separate buses to school and share the one coming home. I was nervous about Ashtyn being alone on the bus to school until I found out it was only going to be Kindergarten kids on that one.

Anyway, Tyson took the day off of work to see the kids leave for school and we all walked Kai to the bus stop.

Kai rockin' the 'hawk

After we sent Kai off, Ashtyn didn't really understand why she wasn't on the bus with Kai. We took her home and tried to keep her occupied which was difficult because she could hardly contain herself. Finally, we put her in her favorite outfit and did her hair and got her backpack all filled up with lovely school supplies.....

Then I got a little emotional watching my baby girl get all ready for school. It took me back to my school days and I loved it as well. She looked so cute and so grown up, I had to get a quick pic...

We drove Ashtyn to school for her first day.

Ashtyn kept giving us hugs. Watching Tyson hug Ashtyn and try so hard not to be too emotional was heart-warming. Ashtyn is such a Daddy's girl and she would hug him for a long time. It was so sweet.

Finally, it was time to line up at the gate with her new class. She was hesitant at first, but she quickly recovered and stood in line with her new friends. It was hard watching her. She wasn't completely sure for a minute what to think and she had a bit of a hard time when she realized that we weren't staying at school with her.

Just when I thought I was going to cry like a big baby, Ashtyn called my name and as I looked over, there she was with a huge smile and two thumbs up.

She was so cute and confident and Tyson and I waved as she walked into the gate on onto a new endeavor in her life. We are so proud of Kai and Ashtyn and love them dearly. Here's to a new school year!! :)

Mr./ Miss. Negativity

You know what I can't stand.... Negativity. It use to be a regular visitor and I have been able to keep Mr. Negativity at bay the majority of the time.

The last few days, this Negativity has slowly, but oh so surely, been creeping up on me and weaving in and out of my brain matter. I know he is there because I would be thinking or even talking about something good or positive or just something boring, when all of the sudden, WHAM! I say something totally negative and it somehow ties into what I was saying before. EWWWW I hate it when that happens!! Oh crap! There it is again.... I mean I strongly dislike it when that happens.

I decided I have had enough these last few days and I want to get rid of Mr. Negativity. I concentrate and pray and really try hard to be positive and stay on track with my happy thoughts.

As I go throughout my day doing this, I am looking at my calendar and I notice a big, red circle around a very fast-approaching date. I feeling of complete understanding overwhelms me. It Looks like Mr. Negativity has been Miss Negativity this whole time. This is great news because now, it's a whole new ballgame. I take the calendar off the wall, walk over to The Mister, and show him the upcoming, red-circled date. His face is one of complete understanding and love. Then I toss the calendar over my shoulder and start walking up the stairs. I hear the calendar hit the floor as I shut the door to my bedroom.

Mockingjay

Today, I checked the mail and I was so excited to see my copy of Mockingjay from Amazon.com!!! I have been anxiously waiting for this day because I loved Hunger Games and Catching Fire so much.

The beauty of these books is the unique storyline. Also, I love how simple they are to read, it's brain candy, yes, that is exactly what these books are.... BRAIN CANDY!! I have heard rumors that a movie is in the works, but I am already planning on being disappointed. I know, very pessimistic of me. I just don't know if anything on-screen can compete with my vivid imagination.

So, off I go to read this book. I have to wait until Tyson falls asleep though, since he doesn't want to wait until I am finished reading it, we are SHARING it. He is reading it right now, I will take it when he falls asleep since I am the insomniac. I will probably finish reading it tomorrow as I lock myself in my room and occasionally throw some crackers out for the kids to eat. You know that is why we bought the Wii, so I don;t have to lift a finger! I kid, I kid.... or do I?? :)

It's polite to introduce yourself :)

So, I know I have been on the DULL side with my blogging lately. I check my Sitemeter sometimes to see who has been visiting (it only gives me the name of the City and IP addresses) I see there are people from Surprise, AZ (wherever that is:) and New Orleans and all kinds of places. I have my suspicions on who you are, but I wish you would leave a comment so we could chat or even tell me if you don't like my blog....that would be something:) I would LOVE to meet you and get your feedback.

I want people to ask me questions and get a great subject going on my blog. I love hearing other peoples' views on things.

I will say that I do not blog because I think I am an amazing writer. (quite the contrary) I do not blog to please others either. I mostly blog to keep friends and family updates with the goings on in my family and also to use as a sort-of journal. Blogging is the new journaling, and you all know how I feel about journaling.

So, come and introduce yourself, stay for a while. Ask me anything and I will answer the best I can. I would truly love to meet my readers, even if it's through my blog. :)

XOXO

Mile High Music Festival

If you did not know already, I am in love with Jack Johnson!! I joke around that he is my future ex-husband! :) Anyway, I bought tickets to see him last summer, but we couldn't make it and had to give away our tickets:( I looked for tickets to see him this tour and saw he was not coming to Vegas!! I was so bummed. MY sister then informed me that he was coming to Denver along with 29 other bands for a 2 day music festival!! I thought it would be so fun to go with my sister and see my new nephew as well (kill three birds with one stone:) So, I bought tickets.

Baby Gage (born 10 weeks early)

I just got home Monday from my trip out there and I must say, I HAD A BLAST!!!!!!! It was so much fun and the music was amazing and mellow. Here are the bands I got to see:

*Jack Johnson
*Dave Matthews Band
**Ozomatli
**Weezer
*ALO
One Eskimo
*Steve Miller Band
The Constellations
*The Samples
NAS & Damien Marley
Cypress Hill
Keane
Pheonix
My morning jacket
*Train
Joe Purdy

We couldn't see every band play because there were 5 huge stages and we couldn't get to them all in time, but we saw the ones I listed (the important ones) and they were ALL good!!

Sisters!!

Even boys take their shirts off for Jack Johnson!!

Loving Damien Marley

MILE HIGH!!!

Dancing to My Morning Jacket

Waiting for Dave Mathews to serenade me....

WEEZER!! (The most fun!!)

The Samples

Being Cheesy for the camera!

What a fun weekend. I hope Tyson will go with me next year! I missed him so much, my flight home arrived 20 minutes after Kai's, so, my whole family was there to pick me up at the airport and that was so sweet. I did, however, lose my phone at the Denver airport and am currently using Tysons to keep in touch with people.

Kai and Ashtyn were SO excited to reunite!!

I love how music can make you feel so happy, especially the music that was played at the festival. I had the best time ever.

P.S. All of the tunes on my page are from the festival:)

Our Summer in Pictures.....

Since I have been a slacker all summer and haven't really updated this blog.... I thought what better way (and easier) than to just post pictures of our summer so far. :)
